Cristiano Ronaldo was inspirational for Real Madrid last season scoring 46 league goals in 38 appearances, as they wrestled the Liga title back from Barcelona. He became the first player to score against every other team in the division in a single season, while he also achieved the accolade of being the first player to score more than 40 goals in successive league campaigns. His performances were recognised as he was awarded the Trofeo Alfredo Di Stefano, given to the best player in La Liga over the course of the season. He dispelled the myth that he does not perform in the big games by scoring the match-winning goal against Barcelona in April and also impressed at Euro 2012. Ronaldo netted twice against Netherlands in the final group match, before scoring the decisive goal in the 1-0 quarter-final win over Czech Republic.

Moment of the Season - Effectively sealing the league title for Madrid by scoring the winning goal against Barcelona in El Clasico in April. The attacker latched on to a scintillating pass from Mesut Ozil before firing a firm effort past Victor Valdes and into the back of the net.

Editor's view - "Cristiano Ronaldo had his greatest ever season as he inspired Real Madrid to the title. To stop the current Barcelona team you need someone special and in the Portuguese attacker, Los Blancos have that man." - Luis Herrera - Deputy Editor for Goal.com Spain
